A rich and inviting buffet breakfast (including salami, selection of cheese, bread and boiled eggs) starts the day at Hotel Villa Selene. Try the homemade specialities: small cream puffs, crêpes with a choice of jams and marmalades, daily fresh yoghurt and a piping hot chocolate

In the evenings, after a day spent trekking or visiting the beautiful beaches of Tortoli and Barisardo (20 km), you can enjoy a dip in the swimming pool.

The hotel is situated in a restful and panoramic area, at the foot of the Gennargentu mountain, overlooking the sea.

Opened in 1968, the hotel has always been owned and managed by the same family.

The hotel has various spacious public areas, ideal for your leisure and entertainment: pool and snooker tables, reading and card rooms and guest library, all with easy access for the disabled.

Lanusei is the main town of Ogliastra, an Archiepiscopal seat, and has a small, well equipped hospital. It has approximately 6000 inhabitants.

Food & beverage

Breakfast is served from 8:00 to 9:30, lunch from 13:00 to 14:30 and dinner from 20:00 to 21:30. The bar is open all day until midnight.

The Hotel boasts 77 comfortably spacious bedrooms with 164 beds split into 6 single, 55 double and 16 triple rooms. Many of the rooms boast a small balcony or a private garden as well as a panoramic view.

Area information

The hotel is situated in a hilly area, just 18 km and 22 km respectively from the beautiful beaches of Barisardo (Cea) and Tortolì (Orri), and 30 km from S. Maria Navarrese.

Nearby, guests can explore a variety of rock and woods, as well as natural caves and archaeological sites dating back to the Nuragic era.

The hotel offers a wide range of excursions, including a day trip with il Trenino Verde, ("the little green train"); an ancient steam train with wooden carriages that rides along mountains and villages, and a full-day boat trip along the coast from Arbatax to Cala Gonone (lunch on board on request). Guests can also spend a spectacular night observing the firmament and its stars at the astronomic observatory of Monte Armidda (about 4 km from the hotel).

Travel information

Hotel Villa Selene can be easily reached from the 3 main Sardinian Airports: Cagliari, Olbia, Alghero and from the 4 main Sardinian Harbours: Cagliari, Olbia, Arbatax, Porto Torres.

By Car:

From Cagliari airport:
- Follow the S.S. 554, in the direction of Quartu S.Elena.
- From Cagliari port, follow the signs for Sassari along the S.S. 131 as far as the turning to Quartu S.Elena (S.S. 554).
- Turn towards Muravera (S.S. 125).
- Continue onto Tertenia. After 100 km, join a short motorway; at the end of it turn left.
- After 4.5 km. you will reach S.Paul’s bridge. Cross the bridge and (leaving Gairo behind) turn left onto a new road.
- After 12 km. you will arrive in Lanusei.

From Olbia:
- Follow the signs to Sassari either from the airport traffic lights or driving from the port.
- After about 1 km on the Olbia-Sassari motorway, take the road to St. Teodoro/Siniscola on the right.
- Follow the signs to Nuoro; the distance from Olbia-Nuoro is about 100 km.
- Continue until the outskirts of Nuoro.
- From there, follow the signs for Lanusei.
- The motorway ends after 50 km next to a gas station. Drive on for 15 km on the old road; the entrance to the hotel is on the left, about 1 km from Lanusei.

There are also daily buses from Cagliari Arst Bus Station (close to the port) to Lanusei.
